Footfall in Dublin city centre was down 28% in the week to last Sunday compared to the same period last year, according to new data released by DublinTown.
The lower numbers are a consequence of the restrictions put in place by the Government last week to combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
In Grafton Street, footfall was 34% lower, while in O'Connell Street there were 28% fewer people in the streets. The hospitality industry laden area around South William Street was down 44%.
DublinTown says much of the decline can be attributed to large swathes of the 250,000 people who work in Dublin city centre now working from home.
