The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, which is currently enforced in India, lays down punishment as per Section 188 of the IPC for flouting such orders NEW DELHI : Those persons directed to be in home quarantine over suspicion of novel coronavirus infection, if found violating the rule, will be punished, government said on Wednesday.
In India around 64,000 persons have arrived from other countries to India since 21st March, 2020 out of which 8,000 have been put in various quarantine facilities and 56,000 are in home isolation.
