Speaking in the House of Commons on Tuesday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed days of violent protests in cities across the U.S., as well as protest marches right here in Canada, stemming from the death of unarmed Black man George Floyd at the hands of police in Minnesota.
Trudeau decried what he called “horrific” reports of police brutality against people of colour in the U.S., but warned his fellow Canadians that these were not “isolated incidents” but rather the “reality” for many Black and minority Canadians.
