Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan has updated fans on Derek Draper’s critical condition, explaining Kate Garraway’s husband is still "seriously ill".

Two weeks ago, Derek, a former English lobbyist, tested positive for covid-19, and is currently battling the bug in intensive care.

Meanwhile, Good Morning Britain’s Kate is now self-isolating after she started to show symptoms. Earlier today, Piers spoke to a dad who had beaten the virus.

During the conversation, he explained: "There are so many people going through what you’re going through sadly, including one of our own colleagues, Kate Garraway. "Her husband Derek is still very seriously ill with this, we wish him and Kate and their family all the best.” Piers’ update comes days after co-host Ben Shephard
