Gold and silver prices rose sharply in Indian markets today in a catch-up move with global markets. On MCX, June futures were up 1.43% or ₹618 to ₹43,858 per gram, extending gains to the second day.
Silver futures on MCX surged 3% or ₹1,300 to ₹43,858 per kg. Indian commodity derivative markets were closed yesterday. In global markets, gold prices inched lower today after strong gains in the previous session.
Spot gold eased 0.1% to $1,610.64 per ounce, following a 1.4% jump in the previous session. A firmer dollar weighed on the metal while record high weekly US jobless claims filings kept a check on bullion's downside.
