There has been a huge reduction in the number of people travelling into towns and cities across the country since restrictions to control the spread of coronavirus came into effect last month.

Photos and aerial footage of empty streets have highlighted this trend. Earlier this month, DublinTown noted that footfall in Dublin city centre declined by 80.3% during the week ending 29 March.

This fall in pedestrian traffic is reflected in the rise of something else - grass growing between the cobbles on Dublin's Grafton Street.

Of course, the grass is not the only unusual sight on the normally teeming city thoroughfare - footage of a fox browsing the doorways of the shopping street has been widely viewed on social media.
