Former police minister, and Salford and Eccles MP, Hazel Blears, sent Brown a letter, when it was announced he was leaving Salford council.
She said in the letter: “I’m sure there are many things you have done over your career to be proud of, but for me, it was your unique partnership with Kevin Mulligan that helped to bring about a tremendous transformation in our city for decent local families.“Your leadership and tenacity helped local people to feel safe ad secure in their communities, knowing you were on their side and upsetting the tables on those who weren’t playing by the rules.”Today that tribute was matched by others after Don died last week, aged 66.
