Hero, Wicks and Indigo among top names for babies being born under lockdown

New studies show that almost half of all parents believe that the coronavirus pandemic will change the way that babies in the UK are named.

A whopping 43% think the crisis will have an effect on naming trends and 7% of pregnant mums have already changed their baby’s name because of the virus.

Monikers such as Corah, Corina and Rona are all being cast aside as families think they sound too similar to “corona”. A massive three out of five parents think that names similar to “corona” will fall out of fashion this year because of Covid-19.

Names which sound like the word “virus” – such as Violet and Viola – are being struck from the list of one third of new parents.
