The Dáil has heard that some meat processing plants were inspected this week by the Health and Safety Authority and a high level of compliance was found.
Minister for Business Heather Humphreys said the authority conducted over 240 onsite compliance workplace inspections between Monday and yesterday and these include meat processing plants.
She said a high level of compliance had been found. Ms Humphreys said the clusters in the plants were first and foremost a public health issue.
Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed said the situation was constantly evolving and he would not agree that mistakes were made.
