A huge emergency response was called to a former pub after a blaze erupted and spread to flat above on Thursday evening (January 30).
Police and fire crews raced to the fire at the former Hilton Park pub on Leigh Road in Leigh at around 8.40pm. It is thought the blaze had also spread to a flat upstairs.
Smoke could be seen escaping from the windows of the building, which is now closed. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished by around 9.25pm.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police were also called to the scene. The cause of the blaze has not yet been confirmed. A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at around 8.40pm to reports of a fire at a derelict building on Leigh Road, in Leigh. "Three fire engines from Hindley, Atherton and Leigh fire stations attended the scene.
