PHILADELPHIA - A rideshare driver on route taking a passenger through North Philadelphia was shot and severely injured on Wednesday night, authorities say. According to police, the incident happened just after 11 p.m. in the area of Broad Street and Lehigh Avenue. Officials say when officers arrived on scene, they saw the vehicle, a Honda CRV, that jumped the curb and struck a utility pole. A 34-year-old driver was slumped in the driver's seat with a gunshot wound to the head, law enforcement officials said. Police investigate scene of crash involving rideshare driver shot in the area of Broad Street and Lehigh Avenue.  MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe driver was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he is in extremely critical condition, according to authorities. Chief Inspector Scott Small told FOX 29 the rideshare driver was going westbound on the 1300 block of Lehigh Avenue after picking up an 18-year-old female passenger a few blocks away. Officials say the passenger told detectives she heard about five or six gunshots before the vehicle's windshield broke, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle, jump the curb and crash. According to investigators, at least one bullet went through the driver's rear headrest. Small says the passenger is extremely lucky she was not also struck by gunfire. Police say six spent shell casings were discovered on scene. Investigators do not know if the rideshare driver was targeted or was struck by stray gunfire, Small says. Police are investigating after a rideshare driver was shot while driving as passenger in North Philadelphia, authorities say.

PHILADELPHIA - Four students at Philadelphia High School for Girls claim they were denied their diplomas on stage at graduation after their expressions of excitement drew reactions from the audience.Hafsah Abdur Rahman danced across the stage at the Kimmel Center when she heard her name called during last Friday's graduation ceremony, only to be denied her diploma by the principal. "I was really embarrassed, I didn't think she was not going to give me my diploma because I didn't think I broke any rules," Hafsah said. The graduates families were told not to cheer and hold their applause until the end of the ceremony. PHILADELPHIA - Medical experts are raising awareness about sudden cardiac arrest in children and teens, and emphasizing the importance of knowing life-saving CPR. Researchers at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) estimate that 23,000 kids a year suffer from sudden cardiac arrest. "These events happen on fields, during basketball games, they are sudden and devastating events that can lead to children dying," CHOP Cardiologist Maryam Naim said. Anthony Patricelli was 5-years-old when his heart suddenly stopped while he was at his sister's soccer game last May. Luckily, Anthony's mother, Sheryl Grell, is a nurse and sprung into action."5-years-old, who would have thought my son would have collapsed in cardiac arrest," Sheryl said.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Two Wilmington, Delaware, teenagers have been arrested and charged after a police chase involving a stolen car, authorities say. According to Delaware State Police, on Tuesday morning before 1:30 a.m., troopers saw a silver 2022 Toyota Highlander with Florida plates enter the parking lot of the Budget Inn on Memorial Drive in New Castle. Officials say the car was reported stolen out of the Wilmington area. Troopers saw the stolen car leave the parking lot of the Budget Inn before traveling westbound on Memorial Drive, authorities say. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to officials, the vehicle did not stop when a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The car continued toward Rt. 13, where it traveled northbound and lost control, striking a fence on South Heald Street, police say. Two juveniles got out of the car in an attempt to flee but were quickly taken into custody, the agency says. The driver of the stolen car was identified as a 14-year-old and was charged with disregarding a police officer signal, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, reckless driving, driving without a license and related charges, according to authorities.

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles City Councilman Curren Price is facing corruption allegations, including using public money for medical benefits for a woman while he was married to someone else. On Tuesday, Price was charged with embezzlement, perjury and conflict of interest.According to a statement released by Los Angeles County DA George Gascón, Price allegedly pulled more than $33,000 in city money for medical benefits for his now-wife while he was married to another woman. In addition, Curren allegedly took a financial interest in projects that he voted on, Gascón said."This alleged conduct undermines the integrity of our government and erodes the public's trust in our elected officials," Gascón said in a press release Tuesday.

PHILADELPHIA - Medical examiners in Philadelphia have confirmed the identity of a man who authorities say was behind the wheel of a gasoline tanker that crashed and exploded, causing part of I-95 to collapse.The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office said Nathan Moody died of blunt trauma to the head and inhalation and thermal injuries. The manner of death has been ruled an accident, officials said.Moody, 53, was previously identified by family members who described him as a hardworking father with more that 10-years of trucking experience. "He wanted to raise his girl to know what a good Dad was, to know what a hardworking Dad was," said Issac Moody.

PHILADELPHIA - Commuters in Philadelphia are adapting to new road closures and detours in the wake of the I-95 collapse that officials say will take months to repair. Some of the re-routed traffic, however, is being funneled onto tight streets in North Philadelphia that aren't equipped to handle the influx of traffic. A viewer photo given to FOX 29 News shows the aftermath of a tractor trailer coming down the tight confines of Westmoreland Street and tearing down a cable line. The traffic chaos has caused neighbors in Bridesburg to take matters into their own hands by placing cones and caution tape on the roadway to help direct traffic. "The people on the block here are trying to help people go the right way, because if they go all the way down towards Aramingo they may have to turn around and go towards traffic," Scott Simon said. PHILADELPHIA - Family members have identified a man they say was driving a tanker truck that crashed and burst into flames, eventually leaving parts of I-95 completely destroyed Sunday morning.Nathaniel Moody, 53, has been identified by family members as the driver of the truck. Family members say officials informed them that human remains were recovered at the site of the crash and collapse, but they have not yet been positively identified.Nathaniel Moody, 53 (Family Photo) Moody's family described him as a husband, father, and experienced driver with more than 10 years behind the wheel. They say he was transporting fuel for a company in Pennsauken, New Jersey at the time of the crash.According to Pennsylvania State Police, the truck was carrying 8,500 gallons of a gasoline when officials say it lost control on the Cottman Avenue off-ramp curve, overturned, crashed on its side and caught fire.Extreme heat from the fire caused an overpass on the northbound side to completely collapse, while also compromising the southbound portion of the highway.  Featured Portions of Interstate 95 have collapsed after a large gasoline-fueled fire broke out Sunday morning, bringing traffic to a standstill and closing down parts of a major roadway.

an elevated section collapsed over the weekend following damage caused by a tanker truck crash. LiveNOW from FOX spoke with Mark Fusetti, a retired police sergeant, who happened to be driving on the fiery section of I-95 Sunday morning moments before the collapse. Fusetti saw dark, black smoke begin to consume the roadway ahead of him and assumed it was coming from a car fire down below. "I did see an opening (in the smoke) where I could drive through and look safely, which I did.
