QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - A man drowned after rescuing two children who got into trouble while swimming at a Bucks County state park, authorities said.The Bucks County coroner's office said Marvin Alexan Fernandez Chicas, 37, "disappeared in the water" after rescuing the children who were swimming at Nockamixon State Park on Thursday evening.The coroner's office said Friday that the cause of his death had been confirmed as drowning following an autopsy and the manner of death appeared to be accidental. Coroner Meredith Buck said in a statement that the office is extending "its deepest condolences" to his family.Wesley Robinson, spokesperson for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, said the two children were seen struggling in the Tohickon Creek in the cliffs area at about 5 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating a spate of violent abductions and robberies that they believe may have been carried out by members of the same group.The Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victim's Unit outlined three incidents that happened within a 24-hour period between Tuesday and Wednesday. Authorities say a woman was walking along the 1200 block of Academy Road around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday when she was robbed at gunpoint and forced into a U-Haul van by four gunmen. Several items were taken from the victim, according to police, and she was punched in the face and shot at twice as she exited the U-Haul van. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESA short time later, investigators say a man was using a drive-thru ATM machine at a TD Bank of the 6300 block of Roosevelt Boulevard when he was boxed in by a U-Haul cargo van. Two gunmen exited the van and demanded the victim to withdraw money from the ATM before stealing his 2011 Mercades-Benz. The suspects in both incidents are described by police as 3-4 Black males in the late teens or early 20s.

CAMDEN, N.J. - A New Jersey man has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison after exchanging sexually explicit videos and images with a 13-year-old New York girl and later paying $20,000 in bitcoin to have her killed, eventually calling it off.John Michael Musbach, 34, of Haddonfield, received his 78-month prison term Tuesday during a court hearing in Camden, according to federal prosecutors. He will also have to serve three years of supervised release after prison.Musbach pleaded guilty in February to using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of a murder-for-hire plot.He began communicating online with the girl in 2015 and eventually began using those chats to request and receive sexually explicit videos and photographs of the girl, and send her similar videos and images of himself.
