Inside EFL plan to finish the season in 56 days as clubs face fixture squeeze

English Football League clubs have been told the season can be completed in 56 days when it is safe to resume after the coronavirus pandemic.

But how do they plan on pulling it off? It's an approach which differs hugely from what we're seeing here in Scotland, with the SPFL tabling a proposal to end the Championship, League One and League Two campaigns immediately.

Here's a look at the big questions surrounding the bid to finish the English lower league season. There are 326 EFL matches left in the regular season after it was postponed in March.

Collectively Sky Bet Championship clubs have 108 games to play while there are 106 matches left in Sky Bet League One and 112 in Sky Bet League Two.
