schools won't be reopening to all primary pupils this academic year. While the plan was for children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 to return on June 1, many are yet to do so.Some are still on half term, while others - backed by their local authorities - have objected to opening to anyone but key worker and vulnerable children. In the schools where they have welcomed more pupils back, few have opened to all four priority year groups.
And some areas, including Tameside and Wigan, have delayed plans to reopen amid fears over the rising R rate. The government had also planned on schools reopening to all primary pupils 'for a month if feasible' before the summer.
