Married at First Sight star Mel Schilling has offered a health update after revealing her cancer diagnosis. The dating expert was flooded with well wishes when she confirmed she'd been diagnosed with colon cancer back in December.

Mel told her fans and followers the news in an Instagram post which featured a picture of her cuddling into husband Gareth Brisbane, 51, and daughter Madison, eight. "'YOU HAVE CANCER', Three little words that everyone dreads but no one ever expects to hear.

Last Thursday my consultant told me those 3 words," she started to write alongside her post. Mel went on to tell fans she was suffering pain in her stomach while filming the reality series out in Australia and explained how she was set to have a five-centimetre tumour removed over Christmas.

The surgery has since gone ahead with Mel having keyhole surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in her colon. She explained: "I had keyhole surgery to remove my tumour (AKA Terry) and in the words of my amazing surgeon it couldn’t have gone any better!
