Health Secretary Matt Hancock has failed to guarantee a pay rise for Britain's nurses after the coronavirus crisis. Asked by a member of the public if nurses would see their pay rise after the crisis, Mr Hancock praised nurses and said he would look at the issue but failed to make any guarantees.

Mr Hanccock told the press conference that nursing is  a "highly skilled profession and deserves decent pay". He added: "We put up nurses’ pay last month, and in fact last year we had the fastest rise, the biggest rise in pay - especially for nurses who are starting their career and the lowest paid nurses, who got a very significant pay rise of over 15%. “So there has been a significant pay rise for nurses.
