UK coronavirus death toll rises as a further 377 deaths reported in last 24 hours

The number of people who have died after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has hit 37,837 according to the latest update from the Department of Health.

The death toll has risen by 377 from 37,460 at the same point yesterday. The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the UK is now 269,127 - a rise of 1,887 from 267,240 yesterday.

More than 3.9 million tests have now been carried out with a total of 119,587 tests carried out yesterday. The government had set a target of being able to conduct 200,000 tests a day by the end of May, which it has not yet met.
