The Health Service Executive is likely to address plans to increase its capacity to test for Covid-19 to 100,000 tests a week at its weekly briefing this morning.
Minister for Health Simon Harris has insisted he had never seen such a level of collaboration between those working in health despite reported tensions between the HSE and the Department of Health over the issue.
Almost 1,000 people are in hospital with confirmed or suspected cases of the coronavirusvirus. Mr Harris said HSE Chief Executive Paul Reid will publish a plan during the week on how the executive intends to ramp up testing to allow them to carry out 100,000 tests a week if needed.
