Miriam O’Callaghan, who filled in for regular host Ryan Tubridy on last Friday night’s Late Late Show, was watched by nearly one million people for the special episode.
The 60-year-old made Irish television history by becoming the first-ever woman to host the programme, after it was announced that Ryan Tubridy was too sick to present, with his illness later being confirmed as COVID-19.
An RTE spokesperson told The Irish Mirror: ‘The Late Late Show had an average of 863,000 viewers with 61 per cent share on Friday night.’ On the night, Miriam was joined by singer Hozier, Brendan O’Carroll and Jennifer Gibney of Mrs Brown’s Boys fame and Health Minister Simon Harris.
