The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet again today and is expected to recommend that the current restrictions on movement introduced almost a fortnight ago to help contain the spread of Covid-19 should be extended.
The strict limits on leaving home, and travelling to places of work, were originally put in place to last until Easter Sunday.
The meeting comes following an update on the progress being made in slowing the spread of COVID-19 from the head of their Modelling Advisory Group, Professor Philip Nolan.
Forty days into the national epidemic and the word from Professor Nolan, who chairs the large group of mathematicians modelling the course of the disease, is mixed.
