Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is not apologizing for his decision to appoint former Gov. Gen. Julie Payette following the revelation of a “scathing” report that has since led to her resignation.
During a press conference outside Rideau Cottage on Friday, Trudeau defended the government’s process for vetting Payette for the role, even as he acknowledged that the process needed to be reviewed in light of several workplace incidents allegedly in Payette’s past.
