Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Good Morning Britain rants against Covidiocy, but Piers Morgan has held his hands up and admitted “for a few seconds, I was a Covidiot”.

Morgan was pictured in a taxi without a mask after a night out with his wife Celia, who had remembered to wear her face covering.

But responding to the story in The Sun, Morgan tweeted that it had been a momentary lapse caused by being distracted as he chatted to the paparazzi who had taken the photo.

I haven't made an excuse, I just explained what happened. I'm guilty as charged. For a few seconds, I was a Covidiot & I deserve the full wrath of Twitter hell to now descend on me.
