Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan has said that he won't be appearing on Good Morning Britain as he awaits the results of a coronavirus test. The ITV host told his Twitter followers on Sunday night that he had been feeling unwell over the weekend and will stay off the programme 'out of an abundance of caution'.

Piers has continued to appear on GMB alongside co-host Susanna Reid since the lockdown began. Writing to his 7.4m followers, the 55-year-old said: "UPDATE: On medical advice, and out of an abundance of caution for a mild symptom that arose in past 48hrs, I've had a test for COVID-19 and so won't be working on @GMB until I get the result back, which should be tomorrow."
