Police reveal bizarre excuses for people breaching lockdown - including man who 'didn't know' about coronavirus

A man who told police he didn't know about the coronavirus is among those who gave questionable excuses for being out during the lockdown.

Cumbria Police has offered up some of the strange reasons given to officers for people being out and about after it revealed that more than 100 fixed penalty notices have been issued over lockdown breaches.

Officers were left stunned when the Whitehaven man, who was caught cutting his friend's hair, told them he wasn't aware that there was a global pandemic going on, LancsLive reports.

Anther example of a brazen breach of social distancing rules came from a Manchester man who took 200-mile round trip for a 20-minute walk in Keswick.
