Fines for breaching lockdown rules are being increased as some of the restrictions in England are eased. From Wednesday, people will be allowed to spend an unlimited amount of time in parks and other outdoor public spaces, where they can keep two meters apart from others who are not part of their household.

But as part of the relaxation in rules around being out in public, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that the fine for breaking the rules will be increased.

Fines will increase from £60 to £100 in England from Wednesday. The first fine someone receives, if police believe they are flouting restrictions on movement amid the coronavirus outbreak, will be lowered to £50 if paid within 14 days, according to the Home Office.
