Premier League chiefs are formulating plans to carry out 1,000 coronavirus tests every week. But club doctors are voicing serious ethical concerns about the morality of testing players twice-a-week if they are still in short supply for frontline emergency workers.
It is understood the Premier League will foot the bill with each test costing an estimated £150 and they will oversee the process with special testing centres at every training ground.
They would also supply outside medical staff to oversee the testing procedure but club medics had a video conference call among themselves on Saturday and again this week as they have been asked to report back.
