Ty has died of coronavirus, his team has confirmed. The Mercury Prize-nominated rapper, whose real name was Ben Chijioke, has passed away at the age of 47.

He had been admitted into hospital in early April after showing signs of the bug. A fundraising page had been set up that said he had been "admitted into the hospital with medical complications related to Covid-19. "Shortly after, he was put in a medically induced coma to temporarily sedate to help his body receive the appropriate treatment." The page was last updated on April 19 and suggested Ty was recovering after he was moved out of intensive care.
