Prince William is back to work today after clearing his diary to look after his wife Princess Kate following her abdominal surgery.

William's return to his duties is also the first time he's been seen spotted since the news broke that his father King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer.

The heir to the throne's first duty of his return is at Windsor Castle, carrying out an investiture ceremony, which is one of his regular duties as the Prince of Wales.

Former England footballer Ellen White will be among those receiving honours at the event today, as well as David Shreeve – who co-founded an environmental action group with TV botanist David Bellamy – and Francis Dickinson, who solved an 80-year-old maritime mystery by locating the wreck of a submarine which was lost at sea during the Second World War, writes The Mirror.William temporarily paused his duties three weeks ago to care for his wife and their children following Kate’s surgery. After spending two weeks at the London Clinic, Kate is now back home where her recovery is expected to continue until at least Easter.
