Air ambulance called and major road closed off for hours amid reports of 'person hit by HGV'

An air ambulance was called to Trafford on Monday (March 4) and a major road was closed amid reports of a person being struck by a HGV.

Police blocked off Manchester Road (A56), near the Trafford College, in Timperley, for a number of hours following the reported collision, that has not yet been confirmed by police.

One witness who lives beside the scene reported seeing a person lying in the road in front of the heavy goods lorry, which was pictured in within the cordon as police conducted investigations into the afternoon. A number of police vehicles were pictured at the scene as the road was closed at around 12pm. A number of people reported that somebody had been hit by the vehicle, and that the road was closed from the junction of Sinderland Road for a number of hours with traffic diverted.
