Re-opening 22 schools across Europe has not led to any major rise in Covid-19 infections, EU education ministers have heard - though the results need to be met with caution, they were warned.
Unions, ministers and schools are in the thick of rows over when to get children back behind their desks in the UK, despite dozens of neighbouring countries having already taken the first steps.
However, Blaženka Divjak, the minister for education in Croatia, said any apparent lack of negative impact should be seen in context, with many having only been re-opened for two weeks.
Speaking to the press after a meeting of ministers on Monday, the mathematician and politician said the re-opened schools have "very highly guarded conditions" in place.
