Wales boss Ryan Giggs has revealed UEFA are planning to stage Nations League 'triple-headers' which could see clubs and countries embroiled in a bitter row.
Giggs says UEFA want to squeeze three games into just 10 days in international breaks in September and October to allow the playoffs for the rescheduled European Championships next summer to be completed in November.
It would leave England boss Gareth Southgate on a potential collision course with Premier League clubs who will be dealing with fixture congestion as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The current top-flight campaign is halted with the country on lockdown, and it remains to be seen whether either this season or next is truncated due to the time lost.
