In what is the biggest clue yet that the 2019/20 Premier League will be finished behind closed doors, Uefa has lifted the blocked hours protection that was previously granted to the English game.

The rule, which is covered by article 8 of their regulations, only applies to the countries that had requested it - with England, Scotland and Montenegro having done so.

With it now being temporarily lifted, league matches kicking off at 3pm could now be shown on both Sky Sports and BT Sport, as well as FA Cup fixtures.

The rule had been in use since the 1950s in a bid to protect attendances and help the amateur game thrive, but it has now emerged that both England and Scotland have asked for it to be paused.
