Second school announces it won't be holding Junior Cycle exams

A second school has announced that it is opting out of holding Junior Cycle exams in the Autumn. Schools have been asked to run Junior Cycle exams using exam papers prepared by the State Examinations Commission  this Autumn, following the cancellation of the state certified Junior Cert exams.

Those exam papers will not be returned to the SEC but are likely to be corrected in-house by class teachers instead. On Monday Coláiste Bhaile Chláir became the first school to tell students that it was opting out of this plan and would hold May end of year assessments for third year students instead.

Now a second school, Presentation Secondary School in Kilkenny city has said that it will do likewise. The school said it did not want its 160 Junior
