Warehouses across Greater Manchester have been slammed for putting employees at risk by forcing them to go to work during the coronavirus pandemic - and standing ‘back to back’ when they’re there.
MPs, Andy Burnham and the shopworkers union have all called for non-essential warehouse and distribution centres to close amid reports of staff being told to turn up or forfeit their pay.
Oldham MP Jim McMahon said he had been contacted by dozens of constituents in warehouses handling thousands of non-essential products each day, queueing and working in close proximity with no hand sanitiser and no gloves.
