Single mum's secret to help her free school meal vouchers stretch further

A single mum has shared her secrets to stretching her food budget to feed herself and her son. Vicky Fisher, from Birmingham, switched from income support to Universal Credit just before the UK went into lockdown.

At first the mother-of-one was concerned that she'd struggle to make ends meet. But she says, whilst money remains incredibly tight, she's actually managed to find a disciplined way to make her finances work for her small family.

Vicky told Birmingham Live she is delighted by the news that she will now receive free school meal vouchers over the summer holidays, thanks to a government u-turn following football star Marcus Rashford's campaign.
