People are being urged to look out for the signs of breast cancer after American actress Olivia Munn shared her diagnosis this week.

And contrary to popular opinion, the disease doesn't always present itself in the form of a lump. In fact, there is an array of other red flag signs that everyone should be aware of.

Catching the illness early on is essential for better treatment, which is why regular checking of your breasts is vital. It's estimated that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life, but if it's detected early, there's an improved chance of recovery.

Olivia Munn has recently shared her breast cancer diagnosis and revealed she is undergoing treatment despite having a negative mammogram and being given the all-clear in genetic cancer tests last year.
