Star Wars director JJ Abrams pledges $10m to anti-racism causes amid George Floyd protests

Star Wars director JJ Abrams has pledged donations of $10 million (£8 million) towards Black Lives Matter causes in the fight against racism following the tragic death of George Floyd.  The filmmaker has teamed up with his wife Katie McGrath and production company Bad Robot to announce a 10-year plan to donate money towards anti-racism charities.

It comes as protests across the US and other countries continue following the death of Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck during a brutal arrest last week (25 May).
