Stephen Graham has been cast as Bruce Springsteen’s father in the upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. The film, which stars The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White as a young Springsteen, is directed by Scott Cooper (Black Mass, Hostiles) and will begin shooting this autumn. From 20th Century Studios, Deliver Me From Nowhere follows Springsteen during the making of his 1982 album ‘Nebraska’.Graham, whose credits include Peaky Blinders, Snatch, Gangs of New York, This Is England, and Boiling Point will play the Boss’ dad, Douglas “Dutch” Springsteen, Variety reports. The cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, as well as Odessa Young, who is rumoured to play a love interest.

It was reported in May that Succession’s Jeremy Strong is in talks to portray Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager.Back in August, White spoke to GQ about his preparation for portraying the rock icon. “I’m really lucky that there’s sort of a team of folks now in place to help young actors portray rock stars.

I’ve got a really talented group of people helping me train vocally, musically, to get ready for this thing.”The actor, who previously revealed he had texted The Boss in the hopes of meeting him in London, also shared that Springsteen was “really supportive of the project”, adding: “I’ve had some access to him and he’s just the greatest guy.”He went on to share that “there’s just so much footage” of Springsteen, continuing: “It’s really great to go down a YouTube rabbit hole and find him at all these different periods in his life and be able to listen to his speaking voice as well as his singing voice.“That’s kind of been the deal, just listening to him a lot and watching him a lot.
