Steve Wright's brother breaks silence and reveals Radio 2 star 'hid health issues'
Steve Wright's brother has shut down claims his late sibling died of a broken heart. Laurence Wright, 65, has broken his silence following the death of his brother earlier this week and claimed the late broadcaster died due to lifestyle choices and a poor diet.
He said to MailOnline: "He was aware that he could have looked after himself better, in his lifestyle choices. Obviously we all wish he had. "It's like anyone who doesn't look after themselves over an extended period.The normal stuff - diet, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress - he was a very stoic kind of guy as well so if he had something wrong with him and he had to go to have some treatment or go to the doctors, he wouldn't talk about it." He went on to tell the publication: "That's just how he was - that probably didn't help really, because he wouldn't have help or take advice necessarily." Lawrence's revelation that Steve hid his health problems from loved ones comes as after Steve's tragic passing, his friend, celebrity publicist Gary Farrow, blamed his death on a "broken heart" after his prized Radio 2 afternoon show was axed after 24 years on-air.
Then colleagues were said to be "enraged" by the tribute made by Radio 2 station boss Helen Thomas after she axed him from his 2pm until 5pm slot.
The late DJ, who tragically died on Monday, 12 February, aged 69, joined the BBC in the 1970s and went on to host shows on BBC Radio 1 and 2 for more than four decades.
