These dramatic photos show an overturned car in a river in Oldham after a woman was rescued in a major emergency operation. Emergency services were scrambled to the scene after a car plunged into the River Tame tributary in Uppermill yesterday evening (Monday).
Police, firefighters and paramedics responded after the vehicle veered into the water. An air ambulance also landed on a nearby cricket ground.

The extent of her injuries is not yet known, though the North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for further details this morning.
