A branch of Lidl, hit by an outbreak of coronavirus among its staff, has closed its doors for an indefinite period. A statement from Lidl said that the branch would re-open “as soon as it could.” The supermarket on Cargo Fleet Lane in Middlesbrough closed its doors on Friday, and the store remains closed this weekend due to “low staffing levels.” A spokeswoman said: "All supermarkets are currently operating under exceptional circumstances, and the safety of our colleagues and customers is critical to us.
