Supermarket shoppers face queues of 'up to three-hours' during Bank Holiday rush

Supermarket shoppers across the country have faced queues of 'up to three hours' this Good Friday. Bosses anticipated an increase in footfall and have have ensured safety measures are in place, but stores nationwide are incredibly busy.

Social distancing measures mean people are queuing at least 2m apart. There are reports of lines snaking around buildings and through car parks.

People have reported massive queues at Tesco, Aldi, Asda, Waitrose and Sainsbury's stores. Scores of shoppers have taken to social media to report long queues.

One person on Twitter user wrote: "@Tesco I've just been speaking to someone who has just finished a 12 hour shift on a Covid ward.
