Coronavirus: Obese people more at risk of dying from Covid-19, study finds

While most people will recover from coronavirus, one in six will become seriously ill, according to the World Health Organisation.

There are several things that increase the risk of becoming seriously ill with Covid-19. These include underlying health conditions, those who are 70 or older, those who are pregnant and more.

But now it has been found that those who are overweight are also at higher risk of dying from coronavirus. It is thought those who are considered obese are more prone to infection because their immune system is preoccupied with trying to repair inflammation caused by carrying excess fat.
