PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are seeking three more suspects after they arrested one for a carjacking that they say ended in a police pursuit. On Saturday, around 9 p.m., officers from the 6th district responded to the 1200 block of Poplar Street for a carjacking. When responding officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the victim about the stolen car information and the description for the suspects. When one of the officers went over the radio to inform the district of the car details, another officer observed the stolen car traveling southbound on Broad Street. Authorities say the officer activated his lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the stolen car when the offenders took off at a high rate of speed. MORE HEADLINES The pursuit ended at 700 Chester Pike in Prospect Park after the offenders crashed into a fence, according to police. After the crash, police say four offenders fled from the car, but one suspect was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shooting that they say happened when a 6-year-old got ahold of a gun and accidentally shot his motherAround 11 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a call regarding a person with a gun on the 5600 block of North 7th Street. When officers arrived, they found numerous people inside a residence and blood on the floor in the foyer. Responding officers were informed that the victim was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center. MORE HEADLINES It was at the hospital where police spoke to the victim who stated her 6-year-old son found a firearm outside their home on North 7th Street.Authorities say the victim took the firearm and gave it to her husband in an effort to clear the weapon.

SOMERS POINT, N.J. - Somers Point Police have launched an investigation after they say a woman died on Saturday morning. Shortly after 7 a.m., police were dispatched to the 600 block of 3rd Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a woman who had been shot inside a residence. Authorities say the victim was pronounced dead on scene. Officials with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office say there is no threat to the public, and they are asking anyone with information to contact them as they investigate the shooting. 

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating several shootings from Saturday night to early Sunday morning that left five people dead, including a 14-year-old boy. An early-morning shooting on Sunday left a man dead, marking the fifth person to be killed in Philadelphia since Saturday night.Shortly before 5 a.m., police responded to the 2500 block of North Franklin Street for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they say they located a man who had been shot at least eight times. Medics transported the victim to Temple University Hospital where authorities say he was pronounced dead just after 7 a.m. This shooting came hours after a violent Saturday night left four others dead. The weekend gun violence began around 8:30 p.m.

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Authorities in Atlantic County are seeking the public's help in identifying human remains that were found nearly two years ago. The county prosecutor's office on Thursday said the unidentified remains of a man were recovered in Galloway Township in June, 2021.Investigators approximate the man was 40-60-years-old at the time of his death and his height was between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-11.Authorities have been unable to identify the man's race at this point, according to the prosecutor's office. They did not say how the man died.Authorities called attention to a distinctive ring found with the unidentified remains of a man in Galloway Township.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Minister granted approval for the establishment of National Contributory Pension Fund.According to a document released by the Department of Government Information, the Cabinet has recognized that is appropriate to establish a fund named National Contributory Pension Fund to ensure an appropriate environment is created for public sector employees to spend their retired life without being a burden to the country as well as to provide a pension with a certain profit for the retired life of the state sector pensioners. Accordingly, 8% from the basic salary of the employee and 12% from the employer should be credited to the proposed fund when a state employee is recruited in the state service, it added.An independent entity governed by a board of management to manage the proposed contributory pension fund will be established and a fund manager with special skills will be appointed for management of the funds. The proposed national contributory pension scheme will be applicable to the individuals newly recruited  to the government service, said Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Bandula Gunwardena on Tuesday (28).Those recruited to government service after the month of January  2016 can contribute to the proposed national contributory pension scheme as per their consent, said the statement from the Departmnet of Government Information."Since 2000, all public sector appointment letters carry the clause that they would be moved to the National Contributory Pension Scheme in the future. Therefore, this National Contributory Pension Scheme applies to all those who were recruited since 2016.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House is giving all federal agencies 30 days to wipe TikTok off all government devices, as the Chinese-owned social media app comes under increasing scrutiny in Washington over security concerns.The Office of Management and Budget calls the guidance, issued Monday, a "critical step forward in addressing the risks presented by the app to sensitive government data." Some agencies, including the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security and State, already have restrictions in place; the guidance calls on the rest of the federal government to follow suit within 30 days.The White House already does not allow TikTok on its devices."The Biden-Harris Administration has invested heavily in defending our nation’s digital infrastructure and curbing foreign adversaries’ access to Americans’ data," said Chris DeRusha, the federal chief information security officer. "This guidance is part of the Administration’s ongoing commitment to securing our digital infrastructure and protecting the American people’s security and privacy."The guidance was first reported by Reuters.Congress passed the "No TikTok on Government Devices Act" in December as part of a sweeping government funding package.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department's Central Detective Division is investigating a shooting in the North Philadelphia section of the city. According to police, On Friday around 7:30 p.m., suspects got out of a dark colored SUV and fired several shots on the 1500 block of Croskey Way. Authorities say no one was reported injured, but the gunfire struck several homes in the area. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESPolice say the suspects arrived and fled the scene in a dark-colored, late model SUV that is believed to be an Accura. Philadelphia Police released surveillance video of the shooting in hopes that someone could identify the shooters or share information about the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online. 

WILMINGTON, Del. - A 7-Eleven in the Wilmington area became the scene of an armed robbery over weekend, and police are asking for the public's help to find the culprits.The two men, ages 25-30, entered the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 4865 Governor Printz Boulevard around 10:30 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Police in Reading, Pennsylvania, are investigating a swatting call from out of state that prompted a police presence at a fast food restaurant. Authorities say on Sunday, just before 10: 15 a.m., officers responded to a threat against the Wendy's on Lancaster Avenue. Police say information they received indicated an armed suspect was possibly hiding in a dumpster at the restaurant. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAccording to authorities, crews responded and cleared the dumpster. Police say the swatting call came from outside of the state. No additional information was released by authorities.

KINGSESSING - A Philadelphia firefighter was seriously injured while fighting a house fire Saturday morning.Officials with the department said the firefighter was working with his colleagues to douse a fire on the 1100 block of South Paxon Street early Saturday morning, around 7 a.m., in Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood.According to authorities, the firefighter was seriously injured after falling from the roof of the two-story rowhome that was on fire.MORE HEADLINES:The man’s colleagues on the scene began to treat his multiple injuries, and he was then rushed by medics to a local hospital for treatment.Fire officials did not release any further information regarding the firefighter’s condition.Approximately seven people were displaced as a result of the fire.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Officials in Middlesex County, New Jersey, are searching for a driver who fled the scene after a fatal multi-vehicle accident.According to authorities, police responded to the intersection of routes 130 and 32, in South Brunswick, Saturday night, just before 10 p.m., for a car accident.When first responders got to the scene, they found a woman, identified as 43-year-old East Windsor resident, Kerri Shea, had died at the location because of the crash.MORE HEADLINES:Officials went on to say the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash took off from the scene on foot.Police are actively investigating the crash and they are asking for the public’s help in identifying the fleeing driver.

Elon Musk's Twitter conducted yet another round of layoffs this weekend, reportedly firing 50 employees in an effort to further cut costs at the company.The layoff struck engineering teams related to advertising and Twitter's app, according to The Information. EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (AP) - Federal environmental authorities have ordered a temporary halt in the shipment of contaminated waste from the site of a fiery train derailment earlier this month in eastern Ohio near the Pennsylvania state line.Region 5 administrator Debra Shore of the Environmental Protection Agency said Saturday the agency ordered Norfolk Southern to "pause" shipments from the site of the Feb. 3 derailment in East Palestine but vowed that removal of the material would resume "very soon.""Everyone wants this contamination gone from the community.

LAWNSIDE, N.J. - A 28-year-old Camden County woman was shot dead early Saturday and police are searching for her killer.Camden County officials said police in Lawnside responded to the 100 block of Mouldy Road just after 4 a.m., Saturday morning, on the report of a shooting.Officers found 28-year-old Michelle Cruz at the location where she sustained a gunshot wound.MORE HEADLINES:She died at the scene, according to authorities.Police are actively investigating the fatal shooting and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Matthew Kreidler, with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, at 856-930-5355, or the Lawnside Police Department at 856-573-6204.
