PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating the death of a man who was found unresponsive outside of a library in Philadelphia’s Logan neighborhood early Friday morning. Investigators say a man who was walking his dog near Old York Road and West Duncannon Avenue flagged down officers on patrol after he made the gruesome discovery. The man appeared to have been shot in the chest, and three spent shell casings were found just a few feet away from where he was. MORE HEADLINES: Police say his death is being investigated as a homicide and that they received no reports of gunshots or a shooting in that area.

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Authorities in Atlantic County are seeking the public's help in identifying human remains that were found nearly two years ago. The county prosecutor's office on Thursday said the unidentified remains of a man were recovered in Galloway Township in June, 2021.Investigators approximate the man was 40-60-years-old at the time of his death and his height was between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-11.Authorities have been unable to identify the man's race at this point, according to the prosecutor's office. They did not say how the man died.Authorities called attention to a distinctive ring found with the unidentified remains of a man in Galloway Township.

LOS ANGELES - As California continues to deal with the wrath of the winter storms, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency for more than a dozen counties.Some residents and visitors have been trapped for over a week following a series of winter storms.On Wednesday, the declaration was announced for 13 counties in hopes of pushing the pace of disaster response and relief. The employee was thrown from the hood of the car and officials say the suspects fled. MORE HEADLINESThe employee refused medical treatment on scene and no other employees were injured during the incident, according to police. Authorities describe the vehicle as a newer model maroon Kia, possibly an Optima, with tinted windows and preexisting damage to the driver's side door and a temporary license plate, possibly beginning with the letters "LRS." Witnesses told police the suspected vehicle fled southbound on Flint Road, heading towards Swedeland Road.
