Chelsea's £52m capture of Timo Werner is edging ever closer after it was reported that paperwork for the deal is "almost ready".

RB Leipzig star Werner is set to sign for Chelsea next week after the Premier League side offered him a bumper £200,000-per-week deal.

The Bundesliga club's chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff confirmed on Saturday that the West Londoners had not yet triggered the striker's release clause, which is set to expire on June 15.
