Tributes to woman photographed 'united in grief' after Arena bombing who has now died of coronavirus

An elderly Jewish woman, photographed united in grief with a Muslim friend after the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017, has died.

Renee Black died last week aged 96 in a care home in Prestwich after a short illness during which she tested positive for coronavirus.

Miss Black was pictured weeping and praying with Sadiq Patel in Albert Square two days after the terror attack in which 22 people lost their lives.

Mr Patel, a 48-year-old charity worker who also regularly helped her with shopping and other trips, told Lancs Live : “Renee was feisty, funny, warm and forthright. “She will be truly, truly missed.” Miss Black was born in Blackburn and for many years was personal assistant to the principal of Blackburn College, working
