The real total of coronavirus deaths in the UK may be a massive 20,000 more than official UK government stats allege, new figures published today reveal.

According to modelling carried out for The Times over 55,000 people have now died in the UK because of the coronavirus pandemic – making it the most badly affected country in Europe.

Out of those deaths, more than 5,890 were registered as occurring in care homes in England and Wales by April 24, the latest date available.
