The number of new coronavirus cases in the UK have soared by 3,539 - the highest rise for four months. Today's figures bring the total number of Covid-19 infections reported to 361,677.
Public Health England have said most of the new cases are people tested in the community and younger people - however they have warned "worrying signs of infections occurring in the elderly." This is the number of deaths of people who had had a positive test result for Covid-19 and died within 28 days of the first positive test.
