Britain's coronavirus hospital death toll has climbed to 21,749 after 633 new fatalities were reported, but the daily total continues to trend downwards.

England reported 546 new deaths, Scotland had 70 and Wales recorded 17. Northern Ireland has not yet announced its latest totals.

The previous daily totals were 360 on Monday and 373 on Sunday, although those figures were lower due to a lag in reporting Covid-19 deaths on weekends.

It is feared that the UK's true death toll could be 55% higher than reported amid new statistics that show more than 6,500 coronavirus-related deaths have occurred outside hospitals in England and Wales.
